maintains and promotes the scientific and technical interest of the textile finishers as well as of all the experts who deal with textile finishing. The VDTF was founded in the year 2000 after the merger of the two precedent societies, the Deutsche Färber e.V. (Society of German Dyers) and the Verein der Textikchemiker und Coloristen e.V. (society of German textile chemists and colourists).

The society is committed to promote teaching and research in domains which concern directly or indirectly the finishing of textiles. Another very important task is to uphold the contacts between the members and other national and international societies fostering similar aims.

To accomplish the society’s aims there are :

• expert papers and training courses 
• educational journeys and plant visits 
• textile finishers’ meetings
